Analogue Vs Digital

Analogue photography is so different from using digital it really does make you think a lot more when you are taking a picture, your surroundings, the lighting and composition to name only a few. When you take the shot you have no option of looking at the image on the screen at the back of the camera so I find you tend to be a lot more aware certain things when taking a picture. In some ways, I think this is a good thing as opposed to just taking as many shots as you like on a digital camera and being able to see how they look after they’re taken. Analogue photography is best used when you have a lot more time and you’ve chosen to follow a certain kind of theme which I think is a really good thing, although I have spent a lot of time shooting a whole film and sometimes after developing I’ve only been happy with two or three photographs out of thirty-five, I guess this is because I’m in the early stages and still learning how to use Analogue. Digital would be so g...

Monochrome research

Lisa Leone Crazy Legs at home in The Bronx, the early 1990s Such good composition and I like how he's not even looking at the camera as she took the shot, although it's in the early 1990s it seems like it could have been taken in the 1980s,  Mare 139 - Graffiti artist  I really like how she has made such good depth of field in this picture, it brings him right to the front.  Sally Mann Sally Mann Jessie at 8, 1990 This is a great image and it almost looks like the girl was moving as she took the shot Sally Mann  Candy Cigarette, from the series immediate family   This is a great image and I think she asked the young girl to hold the cigarette, it looks like someone is stood on stilts behind her but you can't see it too well because of the blur from the depth of field. Photographing ourselves

A self-portrait a  picture that represents me

Street Photography done with Kirsty

This when we were asked to go out on the street and ask people if we could take a picture of them This was our first photo we took when we all together as a group. These were all taken when we had to ask people if it would be ok if we could take a picture of them, which to start off was quite a challenge but it became a bit easier once you got a bit used to it.  Evaluation  This was a really good assignment to help us get through the early stages of it, it does help with your confidence once you've asked the first few people, and it's really good when you ask all manner of different types of people, it also makes you aware of whereabouts you want to take the shot, considering what people are wearing and what will make them stand out

Studio Work

Diagrams of lighting in studio  Lighting setup that was used when taking the shot of Chris in the studio   Lighting setup that was used when taking the shots of students in the studio really pleased with how these photographs came out in the end

Street Photography

These are my own final street photography images   This lady was stood on the pavement on her phone and she didn't even see me take the photograph, her bright red jacket, hat, bag, and shoes in combination with the light blue dress bring her right into the foreground, but it's worked well with the man behind her is looking right at me. This was taken just near the bus station in Bristol at night and I've used a slow shutter speed to capture the light traces of the car as it moves.    This is slightly out of focus I think but its composition works well and your eye is drawn to the people as they walk along the pavement, you're able to see their movement with the use of a slow shutter speed.  This was taken the same night when I was near the bus station in Bristol, funnily enough, it's actually a bus going by and I like how everything is quite sharp apart from the blur as it drives past me. ...
