Final Major Project

Brief:  Knowle West Style Icons – big & small // brick & flesh // subtle & bold (2) The Photography Brief:  Knowle West Style Icons – big & small // brick & flesh // subtle & bold (a) Your mission is to: ·       Immerse yourself in the everyday routines and fabric of Knowle West, and ·       Discover and document your take on Knowle West’s Style Icons.  You will be helped with immersion through an introductory walk around the neighbourhood guided by someone from Knowle West.  Your selected Style Icons could range from large-scale buildings (such as the old cinema) to intricate brick-work patterns. The Style Icons can also be human – from a portrait of a fashion diva to a close-up of an on-point set of nails.  You should also think about the 3 layers of inquiry, as outlined above: ·       Landscape and architecture ·   ...

Visual Language Resit Work

Task one and Task two,  Development work  To create a book i will need to decide on a theme taken from space, place or narrative. Research  "Photography is a way of telling what you feel about what you see" Ansel Adams - www.photographyknowhow.com  I have decided to work under the theme of place and the idea for the book is to find historical pictures of North St and the Bedminster area, some maybe before WW2. I will compare these historical photos with pictures I have taken myself. It will be so interesting to see the difference and how things have changed over the years. Here is an example of a historical photograph taken in the 1960s, although this was taken looking down Park St it is still an informative image of the era, and was also taken in black and white   This photo was taken right in the centre of Bristol by Baldwin street and it is really good to see it in colour which allows you to look into the image in more depth. ...

My Street (Location Task)

My Street You are to produce a short related series about the street where you live; paying particular attention to what’s actually involved in location photography and assessing/acting upon lighting requirements. Location Report:  the Location i will be shooting at is the street where I am Currently living. I am planning to take shots during the day in the afternoon, this will give me the best light conditions as I am planning to use sunlight/natural light. Because of this the weather is a very important as i will not have the best light conditions on a cloudy day. Pre shoot Report: The location is the street in which i am currently living in so i am very comfortable with taking shots. It is actually a cul de sac so it will be very unlikely that i will see anybody who is not happy with me taking photographs. The street will be very quite during the day as most of the residents go off to work in the morning and come back in the evening. ...
